Boise Foothills Engagement
This Boise Foothills wedding was such a joy to capture! Emily and David were originally supposed to get married at Still Water Hollow. However, given the current circumstances, they chose to change their wedding plans within the last few months. They wanted to celebrate on their original wedding date with a group of their closest friends and family.
Emily and David went on the hunt for a perfect place to have their intimate ceremony in the Boise Foothills. They love to hike with their German Shepherd, Marta, every week. In doing so, they found the most perfect spot overlooking the water past Lucky Peak Reservoir. It was more beautiful than I could have even imagined! They even went out to the location the week of the wedding to weed and pick up trash, ensuring it was in perfect shape for their big day. That’s dedication!
After their intimate foothills ceremony, they invited their guests back to their house for an al fresco reception with gorgeous farm tables and place settings from Blush Creek. The Farm tables were sprinkled with floating candles and vignettes of flowers by Beverly at Petal Works Design. It was an absolutely breathtaking reception area.
During the reception, Emily’s dad shared a toast that had the whole audience in tears. Every year on her birthday and Christmas, her dad writes her a poem. It was only fitting that he share a poem on this day. When David proposed to Emily, he too, wrote a poem in honor of her father’s tradition. You can read more about their proposal story here!
After their reception, we ventured out for some husband and wife golden hour portraits. Emily’s stunning, classic satin dress with buttons was absolutely striking against the natural beauty of Idaho’s foothills.
Emily and David, thank you so much for choosing us to capture your special day. While we know this wasn’t the day you had originally planned, it couldn’t have been more perfect. We loved serving you on your wedding day and would shoot it ten times over again! Congratulations on the start of your marriage. May if be full of many adventures!

Do you know what the process of having a ceremony in the Boise foothills was? Did they have to pay or contact anyone? I’m getting married hopefully this summer, and I would love to invest in a photographer most of all, which means I’d like to save as much money as I can and I have been considering the foothills for the ceremony, I just don’t know where to start and then I found this gallery
Hi Lauren! Not sure what they did to clear the process. This was public land so anyone could have used it, but if you’re worried about being able to keep it to yourself for a wedding, I’m not sure! This was during covid when couples were making big shifts to downsize and have their weddings elsewhere when venues were not allowing it.
