Shelby and Ryan’s McCall winter engagement session was nothing short of magical. The snow-covered mountains and frozen lake provided the perfect backdrop for their romantic photos. The couple met us in McCall early in the afternoon, dressed in warm, cozy winter attire. We started their session at Ponderosa State Park, where the snow was falling just the right amount. We took dreamy photos of them walking through, quite literally, a winter wonderland.
During their session, we saw numerous deer roaming about. But, the deer were not the only animals that stole the show. Shelby and Ryan brought their two yellow labs with them for a few photos. While they have two yellow labs together, they each bought their dogs on their own, before they even knew each other. Shelby told a story of running into Ryan’s roommate walking Ryan’s dog. Shelby stopped to ask him about the dog. Meanwhile, she had no clue that dog would eventually become hers too when she and Ryan became a couple!
After we frolicked in the snow for awhile, we headed to Shore Lodge for some romantic indoor photos by the bar. Shelby and Ryan frequently ski at nearby Brundage Mountain. After a long day of skiing, they often stop into Shore Lodge’s beautiful bar overlooking the lake to relax with a glass of wine. So, in honor of this tradition, they wanted to take photos there too! The snuggled up and enjoy the warmth of the bar and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed getting to capture them in a place that felt very “them.”
Shelby and Ryan’s winter engagement session was truly beautiful. The natural beauty of McCall and the couple’s love for each other made for an incredible set of memories. We can’t wait to capture their wedding this Fall in Walla, Walla wine country. We know it’s going to be yet another amazing day!
